What is VOIP?
VOIP is a phone service that is connected directly into your Internet modem. The flat rate monthly service provides a local telephone number that will also allow you to make FREE local calls and also provides FREE Long Distance anywhere in the United States. Service includes Caller ID, Voicemail, Two-Way calling along FREE 411 information services.
What about 911?
Our VOIP phone service on the Outer Banks is setup automatically for local 911 calls to emergency call centers in both Dare and Currituck Counties.
How much does it cost?
VOIP service is offered at a rate of $30.00 a month. We've also set-up additional packages if you want to add services to your existing Silicon Travel account or to your other wireless Internet service provider.

Will existing phones work?
Absolutely. We will ask you to call your current telephone service provider to cancel your service and then we will be able to use all of the current phones in your house.
Can we keep the same phone number?
Yes. You can port your phone number to the VOIP equipment. Please note that your current provider of your phone service can take up to three weeks for the transfer, so your new Silicon Travel VOIP service will take longer when porting an existing number than for a new number to be associated to your home. Silicon Travel can obtain a new number for you the day you sign up.
If you want to port your current number you cannot cancel your current service until the number has ported to the VOIP service or your number will be lost.
What do I have to do?
Give us a call. We will complete the order information for you. You will be requested to complete a 911 service agreement by email or fax. This will allow your VOIP phone to be connected to your service installation address to allow 911 emergency services in the local area. Once you have agreed to the 911 services, we will setup a date to install your new VOIP service at your home. Remember, if you get a new telephone number assigned to your home, please contact your Property Management Company to provide your new phone number.
What About Support for VOIP?
Silicon Travel provides the same support for phone service as we do for our Wireless Internet services with help desk phone service from 9am-7pm everyday of the year along with our "FREE LOCAL ON-SITE TECHNICAL SUPPORT" included.
